Those "favorites" questions
It is apparent the world will never be free of them. Understandable, as they are fun questions, but I am just not physically able to answer a question like "what's your favorite book" with "Easy, it's ____". Yeah right! SO, this first posting will basically be lists, changing and growing like like us, eh! Disclamer: The artist's names are more than likely unknown or forgotten- unless I made a special trip to look them up. If that's the case, it means you should read the books, they're that good!Okay, favorite Books:
-the "Bible" by God. ES version
"You are Special" by Max Lucado
"Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver (and "Poisonwood Bible", though it hurt my heart)
"Lord of the Rings" series
"Harry Potter" series
"Tracks" by some awesome Aussie woman (Robyn Davidson- I looked)
"Ahab's Wife"
"The Fountainhead" by Ann Rynd (sp??)
"Blue like Jazz" - right on brother!
Ishmael- Daniel Quinn
The Better World Handbook
"Witches" "BFG" and heaps others by Roald Dahl
CS Lewis' work- soo good
John Eldredge's stuff, as well
Treasure Island
ARCHIE COMIC BOOKS: I used to get them in the mail! Now my mom will buy a stack and leave them on my bed to greet me when I come home after being gone a while!
Time for movies. Equally as difficult to narrow down, though I could do a better job than this if I needed. but I'd really rather not :)
The Emperors New Groove
Benny and Joon
Pirates of Pinzance (sp??)
Indiana Jones
Pirates of the Caribbean
That Thing You Do
Star Wars- saw the last one in Costa Rica with Spanish subtitles. It was a top rate experience!
Lord of the Rings
Aladdin 1 and 3
Big Fish
Say anything
Breakfast Club
Bruce Almighty and lots of Jim Carry films (Including Eternal Sunshine..)
Wedding Singer and lots of Adam Sandler's stuff
Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation
The Grinch who stole Christmas (Jim Carry version especially)
Les Miserables
There they are. Probably not the best post to start with! But since the "profiling" bit, it was on my mind. Cheers
The Verse I'll leave you with:
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1-3 "
~freedom from guilt and shame that we often feel from society and the "rules" we've broken. The whole point of the cross was to take those heavy/yucky feelings away and replace them with Relief and Joy- Freedom to be ourselves, even if and when mistakes are made.
