Why? Several reasons. 1. each step takes ages. seperate. wash. dry and wash the other colors. washer's always done before dryer. ect ect. THEN, you get done, and lo and behold, the clothes you're wearing are dirty. so you're really not done at all! grr. and don't you think it: i would get Cold doing the laundry any other way.
Chore I like the MOST: Dishes!!!
Why? WARM water for one! You can wash, dry, and put Everything away, and truly be done with it. unlike the above chore... still bitter...

note: our college apartment didn't have a dishwasher =) or cable TV, for that matter!
