jj's Hawaii Chronicles

What can I say? My words may not be very entertaining but I'll try to give short snippits for the days in paradise...

Day 1, Monday~ Travel day. full on, delays and all, with parents and grandparents. My feelings? I loved it =). We arrive, by the clock, 12 hours later. In reality: 18. Held my sister, shed a few tears, ate some bbq on the deck shown below. nada mas

Day 2, Tues~ Woke up at 5:30am STARVING, so I ate some quacomole and went back to bed.
Managed to get up, and went to yoga w/ sister-Sonja- and Sholeh- bridesmaid #3 (out of 3).
Finally- we went to the beach w/ about everyone that was here- and we were alllll out surfing. It was brilliant. I managed to last for, like, 3 hours (it was the sunshine) and realized only after I couldn't move my arms and my belly/knees were rubbed raw that I needed to save energy for a bachlorette party. Not to mention it was 10:30pm body-time. I about dozed on the board! photos: a blurry pic of my dad w/ his board, and a gorgeous wave- i was busy in the water and have no photos to prove my afternoon of ocean abuse. i'm confident that this wave is more exciting, anyway =)

Sansei Sushi bachlorette party. After our load of fish and saki, we met back up with the guys at Moose's, so Sonja and Tim were happily reunited!
photo: fancy sushi-notice the butterflies and flowers in the rolls!! not quite what we had, but it surely can't taste any better!!! My fav. planko-crusted ahi (or something like that)

Day 3, Wed~Upcountry Alii Kula Lavender Farm in Kula for a tour, plus some tea and scones. so good. Then moved on to Tedeschi Winery for a tasting of their "famous pineapple wine"- where we lucked into a tour there as well. It was just Sonja w/both sides of our family represented, as Tim had other plans for his. this photo especially cracks me up- notice to the right/center, the workers are enjoying glasses of the very wine they're making =) gotta test the product, eh! i love it!!
We stopped in little hippie windsurfer/kite-boarder town of Paia for some Mexican food, shopping, and checking out the amazing wind surfers off that side of the island. Then home to another bbq on the deck. We eventually saw a second of the Red Bull King of the Air competition. unbelievable.
wicked photo of Robbie Nash

Day 4, Thursday~ That evening, the event I had personally been looking way forward to, the Sunset Cruise. It was a catameran packed with 50, all a part of our party, except four randoms that melted into our wedding fiesta for the evening. quick photo: cheers!
Everyone wanted the evening to continue when the boat was docked, so we met at Kaanapali's Tiki Bar for the free hawaiian show and some goofing around.

Day 5, Friday~ The Luau. All out-of-town guests (basically everyone) were invited. It was the Royal Lahaina near Kaanapali. They interacted a bit with the audience, inviting us onstage to learn the Hula. ~My grandparents were honored with being the longest married couple there: 61 Years. They were glowing nearly as bright as Sonja and Tim =).
We were rained on- the "Hawaiian blessing." It was amazing, as the stars and moon were still shining bright! not good for photos, though..

Day 6, Saturday~ THE day-new post for this one... on its way
