The Answer to "the" Question

"Beanhead?" "janabean.blog..."? i know, not super flattering, as i am automatically connected to the "beans beans musical fruit" song. But I like my nickname. I have had it for Ages. Explanation:
A long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, a young little thing (me) was eating chili. Evidently, the beans weren't part of my style back then, because I would spit them out and line them up single-file on my napkin as i ate. Once the eating bit was sorted, I progressed to squishing the beans one by one. um. and I lived happily ever after. In lieu of this memory (not that I remember it- i was pretty darn young) I have searched and found some quality "bean" pictures. It was going to be one picture. that circles back to the "favorites" questions, so i compromised w/ 4. photos to come:

and, the beans

Photo 1: pretty. all shapes and sizes!!

Photo 2: JELLY BEANS.

Photo 3: symbolic of being one of a kind? sure

Photo 4: Interpreted as God pouring into us- He fills my cup to
overflowing. Also- my underhand push for ALTER (at Evelyn Bay coffee shop)

Believe you me- plenty more where these came from. There was even one w/ baked beans on toast... pretty gross looking actually. I totally wanted to use it! It had "copyright" printed all over it, though, so i got scared.

Verse:
The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:13-15

Just like the overflowing coffee cup.... see? see? My train of thought makes sense.

the South land

Though I am more thankful than ever for my friends- old and new- here in MI, the itch to use the resources and time available to me is growing exponentially. I've managed to finish the Red Cross distaster training course, and I just read that Crossroads is sending a team down to the heart land. Check out this verse:

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:1-3

How appropriate is That! Lord, I am in.

missin' the photos

I know i know, the photos previously shown added mucho life to the blog. I felt a bit odd posting shots of my sis when she was fully unawares, though. so there they went. It is now 3 days before the big Hawaii Wedding trip. I'm fully unprepared- especially mentally. Not with the wedding bit, that's heaps cool. More like, life goes on until something big is on top of me. Good thing I'm not the one in control. Well, the best I can do is put in an awesome photo of HI flowers-courtesy of my tropical sis. Oh, and the lovely foot. there really is no explanation..

simple does it

I must add something, but I'm not nearly as full-on as I was yesterday, so here is a rockin' quote to motivate Life and enjoyment of it. it's an excerpt taken from the book Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge:

"Now we should live when the pulse of life is strong. Life is a tenuous thing... fragile, fleeting. Don't wait for tomorrow. Be here now! Be here now! Be here now!"

Be careful not to misunderstand me! It's all about fully embracing life, realizing that it's our small chance to be God's hands and feet before we reach paradise. As much as I love this life, I do not want to forget what I am living for!

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:21

Those "favorites" questions

It is apparent the world will never be free of them. Understandable, as they are fun questions, but I am just not physically able to answer a question like "what's your favorite book" with "Easy, it's ____". Yeah right! SO, this first posting will basically be lists, changing and growing like like us, eh! Disclamer: The artist's names are more than likely unknown or forgotten- unless I made a special trip to look them up. If that's the case, it means you should read the books, they're that good!
Okay, favorite Books:
-the "Bible" by God. ES version
"You are Special" by Max Lucado
"Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver (and "Poisonwood Bible", though it hurt my heart)
"Lord of the Rings" series
"Harry Potter" series
"Tracks" by some awesome Aussie woman (Robyn Davidson- I looked)
"Ahab's Wife"
"The Fountainhead" by Ann Rynd (sp??)
"Blue like Jazz" - right on brother!
Ishmael- Daniel Quinn
The Better World Handbook
"Witches" "BFG" and heaps others by Roald Dahl
CS Lewis' work- soo good
John Eldredge's stuff, as well
Treasure Island
ARCHIE COMIC BOOKS: I used to get them in the mail! Now my mom will buy a stack and leave them on my bed to greet me when I come home after being gone a while!

Time for movies. Equally as difficult to narrow down, though I could do a better job than this if I needed. but I'd really rather not :)
The Emperors New Groove
Benny and Joon
Pirates of Pinzance (sp??)
Indiana Jones
Pirates of the Caribbean
That Thing You Do
Star Wars- saw the last one in Costa Rica with Spanish subtitles. It was a top rate experience!
Lord of the Rings
Aladdin 1 and 3
Big Fish
Say anything
Breakfast Club
Bruce Almighty and lots of Jim Carry films (Including Eternal Sunshine..)
Wedding Singer and lots of Adam Sandler's stuff
Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation
The Grinch who stole Christmas (Jim Carry version especially)
Les Miserables

There they are. Probably not the best post to start with! But since the "profiling" bit, it was on my mind. Cheers

The Verse I'll leave you with:
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1-3 "
~freedom from guilt and shame that we often feel from society and the "rules" we've broken. The whole point of the cross was to take those heavy/yucky feelings away and replace them with Relief and Joy- Freedom to be ourselves, even if and when mistakes are made.
