1 week of ISV training in the mountains of Cali... things could be worse =)

One shot is an overall of where I'll be, the other is a self-portait of sorts from the cabin's deck.

This house will be overrun with a good 32 of us, or something like that.

Dr Seuss

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You"

"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me''

''A person's a person, no matter how small''

''Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened''

''Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple'''

''Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the things you can think up if only you try''

''And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!”

The Lorax- it's a favorite!!!!!!!!

I'm crazy busy packing today, and am having a hard time putting certain things in the "no" pile. This book is one! I love it, I love to bring it, and it's perfect for ISV trips because we're about eco-tourism and the book's an awesome way to look at loving and helping our planet.

IHOP

open arms

My prof. in the DR, his wife, and me =)
In a 3rd world country where veggies are a novelty and potatoes are a staple, I was given a lunch (the co's biggest meal) of Rice, Beans, amazing Chicken, amazing sauce with the chicken, Salad w/ veggies, and the best coffee ever with carnation milk as the cream/sweetener.
They have to save and budget to buy a hammock for their yard, but they opened their arms and their home to me for a day. It was a day of spanglish, feasting, and learning how to tell the difference between Meringue, Bachata, Salsa, etc etc just by the instruments... not to mention a dancing demonstration! Sheer Blessings.

It's a home of very little money and sooo much love. and yes, it is a household that serves the Lord.

vacations

So it feels like the world is packing it's bags and heading off at this time. Really. So many trips on the horizon. SO along with the dedication to Sierra, I dedicate this post to the boyz below... though their trip is already off and running. That and it's a cool pic...

In Honor of Sierra's upcoming Trip!!!

How Amazing would this be????

ex-student's quote: "man, that is one grand canyon". reminded me of Mark Cryderman in New Orleans, "That is one super dome!"

lol, somehow, this makes me laugh every time!

Love: excerpt from "Blue like Jazz"

I was in love once. I think love is a bit of heaven. When I was in love I thought about that girl so much it felt like I was going to die and it was beautiful, and she loved me, too, or at least she said she did, and we were not about ourselves, we were about each other, and that is what I mean when I say being in love is a bit of heaven.

When I was in love I hardly thought of myself; I thought of her and how beautiful she looked and whether or not she was cold and how I could make her laugh. It was wonderful because I forgot my problems. I owned her problems instead, and her problems seemed romantic and beautiful.

When I was in love there was somebody in the world who was more important than me, and that, given all that happened at the fall of man, is a miracle, like something God forgot to curse.
